Our New House

The house we found was at frame when we went under contract. I briefly walked through the main floor. I couldn't go through the upstairs because it wasn't built yet. So we mostly made the decision based on the next four images. The floorplan and color specs. This home was spec home for the builder. We weren't allowed to pick anything or make any changes because it was already under construction. However, I loved most of what they had already picked out and they gave us a pretty good deal since we were willing to go forward without changes.

We went under contract the middle of August, then by the time we moved there at the end of August our house was completely framed with windows.

We did a walk through before they put up the sheet rock to make sure everything was the way it should be and see where pipes and other things are in the walls so that when we put drill holes to the walls to hang things we don't puncture any of the pipes.
Here are the more formal floorplans with measurements.

Here are just a few pictures of progress.

It was fun for our family to go over to the new house once a week or so and be surprised by what they had accomplished that week. The kids loved to go over and run around an empty house. Dave and the kids came up with a Frankenstein game. Dave would pretend to be Frankenstein and they would run away. If the kids touched a wall then they became invisible and "Frankenstein" could no longer see where they were.

There is a Jack n Jill bathroom that the kids share. There is a sink connecting to each bedroom, then the bath tub and toilet are in between the sinks.

We are so grateful to have a home to call our own. It has been a bigger adjustment than we expected, but we are all happy here. Having a home adds a new dynamic to our life and a little more work, but so grateful for the opportunity to be homeowners and make it our own.

We officially closed on the house on December 12, 2017 and then moved in on December 21, 2017.
