The Brough Family: October 2017

This is a pretty common scene at our house. Trevor reading to the other two. I LOVE that Trevor can read and loves to read. It is one of my most favorite things he knows how to do. I am really excited to have Logan learn how to read too!

We took a little road trip the first part of October down to Lake Powell. We enjoyed a beautiful drive through the mountains in Colorado and the southern part of Colorado and Utah.

We stopped for a quick break and hiked up to the top of a hill. It really was a beautiful day to be out and exploring.

We made it to Lake Powell and spent the weekend with our good friends Mike and Megan Anderson. They have four kids, Owen (7), Mason (5), Violet (20), and Lincoln (6 mo.). We really enjoyed their company and the kids had a great time having so many play mates and being on the boat all day! We stayed on a house boat and the kids thought that was so cool to sleep in a house out on the water.

Little Miss Violet became my best friend on this trip. She sat with me every time we were on the boat. It was fun to a buddy!

When we first got there, I had to lay down some rules for all the kids because they were immediately drawn to the water so we had to take some safety precautions.

One evening the kids were particularly crazy so went for a little adventure at the marina complete with push ups. They needed to burn off some energy.

We played on the beach several times through out the trip. These boys loved searching for new treasures.

We went out to start our adventure for the day and I was holding both of the girls, Savannah and Violet, and pretty soon they both had fallen asleep. I so enjoyed this moment of snuggling the girls. We got to a beach and the boys all jumped out to go hike and play. I was able to listen to the boys play and snuggle to sweet little girls. This was definitely one of the highlights of the trip for me.

On the way home we were able to stop in Beaver Creek, Colorado to visit my brother Kyle. It was great to see him and our kids were so excited to see him. Kyle was working in Beaver Creek. He was working on the ski lifts at the Beaver Creek Resort.

Such a great Halloween outfit!

We were at the park for Trevor's soccer practice and someone had brought a rake for the leaves. Logan and Savannah loved playing and jumping in the leaf pile.

Logan's preschool class had a field trip to a pumpkin patch. Trevor just happened to be out of school that day, so we were able to all go together!

My parents came for a weekend and we went to another pumpkin patch. It was a little chilly outside but we still had fun.

The kids went up on the stage to say their name and what they were dressed up as.

I took Logan and Savannah to a Halloween playgroup at the church. It was super cute and fun! Each mom signed up for a simple craft and kids moved around from table to table to complete a halloween craft. It was so fun and great way to celebrate the holiday.

Savannah tries really hard to not take naps, but usually doesn't quite make it.

Trevor had his last soccer game and the team had a mini celebration at the park afterwards.

Our neighbors, Shari and Keith, prepared a Halloween party for our family. It was the cutest and nicest thing for them to do that! They had games, food, and a haunted maze. They had great prizes for the kids too!

We decided to paint pumpkins this year instead of carving them. It turned out to be a success even though there was some disappointment of the idea.

Grandma and Grandpa Brough showed up just in time to help finish up the pumpkin painting.

We went to the tiny tot trick or treating in Old Town Fort Collins. It was a freezing morning but the kids could not have been happier with all the candy they were collecting.

We went to the Bacon Elementary costume parade to see the Ninja, Trevor.

I have the privilege of being the room mom for Trevor's classroom. So I get to help with the holiday parties. It has been a great opportunity for me to see Trevor in his classroom and interact with his classmates. I have also been regularly volunteering in his classroom which I have really enjoyed too.
