The Brough Family: July 2017

We started out July with our friends the Stokers and Ereksons coming to visit us! We had nine kids and six adults staying at our house. It was so fun to all be together. The kids played really well and we all enjoyed the party. We started the first day with the moms going to the gym and the dads made breakfast.

Go Dads for staying home with all the kiddos so the moms could get out to the gym!

Then we went for a hike to Horsetooth falls. It was quite the adventure with all the littles, but overall they did pretty good and walked the whole thing.

At the end of the hike there is a little waterfall and some shallow water to play in. Perfect for the kids to take a break!

Sadly when we got the end, Dave put Savannah down in her hiking seat and she took a tumble. she got a few scrapes on her face, but overall she was okay. It was kind of scary and sad though!

Right before the hike I had a thought that I need to grab he first aid kit and I'm sure grateful I went back to get it. It had everything we needed to get Savannah patched up and ready for the hike back down.

After the hike we went home and ate lunch and put all the little kids down for a nap. Then we got a couple babysitters to come over so the adults could escape for an afternoon date. It was super fun to have it just be the six of us! Its been so long! We went to Old Town and walked around and got some yummy snacks and treats along the way.

We got home just in time for the kiddos to be awake and then it was time to make dinner. We played outside and did bubbles for a bit. All the girls loved those bubbles!

The next morning we had breakfast and then headed to a lake close by to play on the beach.

Oh it was so fun to see our friends! We sure love them and we are so grateful for their friendship. We started out when no one had kids and we had FHE every Monday for years. And now between all of us there are 9 kids! We look forward to many more times that we can get together and make memories.

We had a 4th of July Parade in our neighborhood. There was even a fire truck to lead the parade! It was super fun to see all the neighbors come out. I didn't realize how many kids live in our neighborhood! There are quite a few and we love it! Afterwards, one neighbor was giving out popsicles to complete the event.

She really loves Curious George right now and her babies. She carries around so many things all day long. Blanket, monkeys, and babies.

The boys did a dinosaur camp in the middle of July. They loved it! We are planning to go to Dinosaur land in August so we thought this camp would help prepare them for that trip and get them excited. These are some of their creations from camp.

A friend gave us this yellow hummer. It just needed a new $30 battery so we went ahead and took it and got the battery. The kids have loved having a car to drive around!

Trevor and Logan did swimming lessons. They both did a great job! Trevor had a few limitations because he had a broken arm and a giant cast to work with. But he still wanted to go and try his best, so we couldn't argue with that.

We had some friends over and they all got dressed up. Spiderman and the Ninja are two little girls, then Trevor is the gladiator and Logan is Mr. Incredible. The little girls are Lucy and Sophie DuToit. They have six brothers so dressing up as super heroes is totally normal to them!

Savannah loves to get me phone and take one million pictures! I kind of liked this one of herself.

Trevor got his big cast off and into a smaller cast that only went to his forearm instead of up and around his elbow.

We went to Kids Days at Centerra Mall. They had a bunch of booths set up with games, a train ride, cotton candy, a splash pad, and cool characters walking around. The kids really had a great time! But it was super hot that day!

That same day was Chick Fil A day where you dress as a cow and get a free meal. My little cows turned out so cute!

On the last day of swimming lesson, Dave was able to come and watch. He got in the pool and played with the kids.

Trevor's goggles were the best! He was loving jumping off the diving board!

Dave and I escaped for a little weekend getaway to Colorado Springs. His parents came to our house to watch the kids for us so we could get away. We were so grateful they could do that!

We stopped in Denver on our way for a Jack Johnson concert. It was entertaining and the evening air was perfect. I love Colorado summer nights!

We made it to Colorado Springs and hiked around Garden of the Gods.

When we got back it was Logan's birthday! He requested waffles with chocolate syrup on the birthday plate! He loved it.
Logan is quite the character. He is always looking for a laugh and trying to be funny. He has been really good at listening and following directions lately. He absolutely loves playing with Trevor and hopes they can be like the Wild Kratts one day. Logan is also very interested in human bodies and injuries. For example, he could not wait to see my big cut after my surgery. Once he could see it he asked again and again to see it. He loved to examine and was very curious about how it all happened. He is a very persistent child. If he really wants something or needs something he cannot distract him or get him to do anything else.
He is the early bird in our family. He is almost always up before 7 no matter what time he goes to bed. And once he's up he wants everyone to be up and ready to play. I am so grateful for him and what he adds to our family. I love his sense of humor and his willingness to be helpful.
I sure love him!

Logan turned 5 on July 17th! Dave's parents were in town and Logan picked Wendy's for his birthday dinner! The faces of everyone through these pictures are pretty great and I couldn't decide on any to keep or delete so I kept them all!

I had to take the kids on several shopping trips to Hobby Lobby and it became their new favorite store. So many fun things to find and look at.

Logan had a Shark Birthday Party! He was pretty excited about the watermelon shark. My parents were in town that weekend and somehow I convince my Dad to carve the shark. It was so helpful!
We had "Fish N'Chips"(aka potato chips and goldfish), Fish sticks (carrots), Shark bait(gummy worms), and some blue ocean water to drink.
